Friday Forum, first edition: Music Matters

Welcome to the first Friday Forum, a place for open discussion. We continue and expand Tuesday's discussion (found in the Tuesday Tablet feature). In keeping with the musical theme so far, I think that a great way to start our first Friday Forum discussion is to explore how music crosses national and international borders and influences and inspires people. I can think of no better way than to look straight back to last week's interview with Chanticleer's music director, Matt Oltman. They are the perfect example of how classical music, with its very traditional sound and ancient roots, can survive in the twenty-first century. Of course, since they perform pop music, jazz, and other contemporary works as well, it only perpetuates themselves more accessibly to young audiences globally.

THIS POST WILL BE OPEN FOR COMMENTS INDEFINITELY.
